Default Wii Madden Gets Favre

August 7, 2008 - With legendary NFL quarterback (and Madden NFL 09 cover boy) Brett Favre making his return to the gridiron game for an 08-09 season, questions have arisen as to how the hall of famer QB would be portrayed in the latest games now that he's back in the big leagues, and kicking things off as starting quarterback for the Jets in just a few short weeks.

EA ha already commented on the situation for 360/PS3 gamers looking to pick up the next Madden offering next Tuesday, but we've got the first comment from EA officials on what you loyal Wii gamers can be expecting come game day.

As it stands right now, we've got the final copy of Madden NLF 09 All-Play in office, featuring Brett on the cover, but only available in hall of fame teams and the 2007 Packers. That won' t be the case for long though, as EA has the same online roster updated planned for Wii as it does for the HD consoles. This means that by the time you've got the game booted up at home, Favre should be waiting for you online donning a fresh new Jets uniform; if not right away, soon thereafter along with the 360/PS3 update.

Those that have been following EA's updates over the last 24 hours also know that the company will be offering a new, printable cover featuring Favre in his new Jets uniform should you want to print it out and update your box art. There's no definite word from EA yet on that one for Wii, but the general plan looks to be that the art is available for anyone that wants it, so count on the same treatment for Wii users as well as your 360/PS3 versions.

EA celebrates 20 years of Madden with the release of Madden NFL 09 All-Play next Tuesday, August 12. Look for our full review of the Wii game shortly.
